How To Organise Your Mountain Of CDs

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Organise your CDs

If you’re like me, you’ve probably managed to amass an awe inspiring amount of CD’s. We’ve all got hundreds of the things cluttering up window sills and once empty drawers, most of which we use rarely, if at all.

The problem is no one wants to throw any of them away, leading to this ever increasing mountain of dusty jewel cases. (By the way if anyone ever has the need to install every version of Ubuntu ever released, or fancies going back in time and listening to Now 47, I’m your man.)

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t weed out some of the unnecessary junk we horde but many of these CD’s do come in handy, just very occasionally. A couple of years ago I came across what I think is the ideal solution…

Good day to you all. You may have been expecting a post regarding some interesting or useful tech released recently, or perhaps a game review or sneak peek, you may even have been expecting a crazy video that will inspire or amaze you.

Skinput Indicates The Impending Doom Of Screens?

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

SkinputOne of the main gauges as to how advanced a technology is, has to be its user input/output. Look at the original Star Trek – those buttons now seem as outdated as small pox, and that screen Spock looks into? I not only have one at home, but mine is HD. The step-up to the next generation’s glitzy touch-screens is definitely noticeable, giving a clean sophisticated feel to a spaceship that in the 80s at least, felt as advanced as James Bond’s invisible car.

Cut to real life and the most recent input to break into to the mainstream is probably the touch screen. Although widespread now, simply comparing even the older resistive touch models to the rubber push buttons of those from the 90’s shows a great leap in innovation (and arguably, practicality). Show any denim sporting, 90s man with curtains a touch screen phone, and he’d assume it was a prop from the X-files (God I had to think hard for that one!). What’s next? Of course, as much as I’d like to pretend I am the font of all knowledge, I am unfortunately not, and have no idea as to what we will be using as inputs for our gadgets 5 or 10 years down the technological line; however, I thought I’d share with you the concept of skinput.

How Is War Affecting The Entertainment Industry?

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Apologies for the lack of articles recently, it’s coursework season… which makes us sad. Anyway we all think this fantastic guest post by Alex Morris (GamerTag: scousiewousie) was well worth the wait. Speaking of guest posts, if you fancy a go at writing (and it’s something you think would suit Gizunk, sorry to anyone that wishes to write some long winded essay about paperclips) we’d love to see what you’ve got to say. All credit goes to your fine self and if we like your stuff, and you fancy it of course, you could always become a permanent contributor. Anyway, on to the article!

- – -

Whilst watching a rented copy of Hurt Locker at the weekend (Blockbuster is still around, who knew?)… I got to thinking about war. This stark, gritty, free-cam filmed (think The Wire’s drug scenes in the projects, but in Iraq and feature-length) drama following a team of US bomb disposal soldiers apparently cost a ‘mere’ $11 million to make, yet picked up the highest accolade for best picture at both the BAFTAs and the Oscars.

Aussie Designer Creates Coffin For Xbox With RROD

Coffin For Xbox 360

What will you do when your Xbox inevitably succumbs to the RROD? If you’re lucky enough for it to still be under warranty you’ll probably send it off to the good folks at Microsoft, if not… use it as an expensive weapon in your next pub bar fight?

Well now you have a third option, courtesy of Australian designer and legend in chief Alexis Vanamois – the Xbox 360 coffin! Why you’d want to do your 360 the honour of a proper burial when ultimately it’s let you down, leaving you at the mercy of PS3 owners I don’t know, but still… the man’s got style no?

Iron Man 2 Trailer Released

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
Iron Man 2

So I now know what I’m doing on the 30th April (take that all you Americans who don’t get it until the 7th May!), this should be rather tasty! Just found out about this new Iron Man 2 trailer so thought I’d share it with you in case you’ve been missing out.

For those who haven’t seen the original… shame on you! I can’t speak for the female demographic (well I could but it wouldn’t be particularly well researched…), but if you’re male and have nerdy tendencies, you’ll love it. It’s the ultimate blokes film, now go rent it or something before I find out you’ve not seen it.

The new film (the second of of a planned trilogy), deals with a second ‘uber geek’ who creates the expected rival suit. In fact many suits from what I can see in the trailer. Then he annoys Stark by stopping him from winning a car race he’s in so they have a massive fight or three. Now I’m sure that’s not really going to be the story line but who cares! It’s all about the visual effects (which incidentally look rather tasty), story line’s a bonus in my opinion – can I hear you say Transformers 2?
