Iron Man 2 Trailer Released

Iron Man 2

So I now know what I’m doing on the 30th April (take that all you Americans who don’t get it until the 7th May!), this should be rather tasty! Just found out about this new Iron Man 2 trailer so thought I’d share it with you in case you’ve been missing out.

For those who haven’t seen the original… shame on you! I can’t speak for the female demographic (well I could but it wouldn’t be particularly well researched…), but if you’re male and have nerdy tendencies, you’ll love it. It’s the ultimate blokes film, now go rent it or something before I find out you’ve not seen it.

The new film (the second of of a planned trilogy), deals with a second ‘uber geek’ who creates the expected rival suit. In fact many suits from what I can see in the trailer. Then he annoys Stark by stopping him from winning a car race he’s in so they have a massive fight or three. Now I’m sure that’s not really going to be the story line but who cares! It’s all about the visual effects (which incidentally look rather tasty), story line’s a bonus in my opinion – can I hear you say Transformers 2?

Microsoft Forced To Make Their Software Worse

Microsoft Logo

I’m sure you’ve heard about Microsoft’s constant battle with the European courts. Essentially Europe is saying (and people have been agreeing) that bundling software such as Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player into the OS is unfair on rival software companies. So far Microsoft have been forced to release a version of Windows without Media Player, fined $1.5 billion and most recently had to create a ballot screen allowing the consumer to choose which browser they want… as well as others.

How To Archive Your Music Cd’s Into High Quality Flac’s

Anyone who’s interested in music by definition has a huge collection of CD’s, and when I started university I had to think of a better solution than lugging my entire collection around with me. Unbeknownst to me, when I first did it my solution was to archive my music onto my computer in .flac (free lossless audio codec) format, luck points to me! There’re many ways of doing this, some of which are better than others… here’s how:

Everyone in the world (well at least in the parts of it which I’m interested in) have heard of MP3’s, but not everyone in the world knows that these files are ‘lossy‘. This basically means when you rip your CD to the computer it removes some data that it deems inaudible (as well as some other fancy jiggerypokery to optimise the file size). The thing is, that the loss of information does have quite a noticeable impact on the quality, which is no problem at all when you’re listening to some music on the bus – but say you scratch your CD, it’s not going to sound as good through your Hi-Fi as the CD did. Enter [Stage Right]: (Wow I’ve written less than 5 articles and I’m already repeating myself, this doesn’t bode well!) the flac file which has the advantage of not losing all the nice detail from your music files.
