Automatically Make Your YouTube Videos HD

Hd Youtube

Exams are over, coursework is done and the celebrations are a mere (and slightly fuzzy) memory, all of which means one thing… I can finally start writing again! What, no applause? Anyway, this is just a quick one whilst I’m winding things back up, Google Chrome extension “Auto HD for YouTube”. (Geek points to BE77Y [Euan, for the uninitiated] for finding this).

If you’re like me you always play YouTube videos at the highest quality available, but when first loaded a lower quality is always selected. Two clicks and a reload later and you’re laughing, but should that really be necessary? Not in my book at any rate, so what can be done about it?

Best Way To Sync Your Tweets To Facebook

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

If you use Facebook and Twitter, at some point or other you’ve probably wondered if you can link your status between the two sites. A cheeky Google search will have shown you a veritable plethora of ways to do this, but I found them all to be very underwhelming.

The problem is that your status in Facebook isn’t (or at least shouldn’t be) used in the same way as your Twitter. I ended up wishing that I could select specific Tweets to go as my Facebook status, instead of blindly setting a whole load of meaningless @replies and retweets.

Air Video iPhone app

Well hello there, Internet! How are you? Why, it’s been a while now hasn’t it? Now now, there’ll be time for catch-up’s later; right now we have to get down to the good stuff. So a few days ago I was browsing through the App Store on my iPhone looking for something I’ve been trying to find for a while: a decent application to allow me to stream video that already exists within my home network. I happened upon a superb app, one which any self-respecting iPhone owner & media geek should certainly go check out – after reading this brief overview, of course! It’s name is Air Video, and I’ll tell you all about it just past the ‘Read More’ link. Come join me, won’t you?

Firmware 4.5 Released For Zune

Monday, April 5th, 2010

ZuneHDSooner than expected Microsoft have released the latest upgrade for the Zune. If you speak incorrectly (ie American) you’ll notice that the date’s 4/5, coincidence..?

Yeah probably.

Anyway, anyone with a Zune should now be able to use Smart DJ, get personal music recommendations, browse the market place through your TV and (with much trumpeting and stamping around) natively play an expanded range of video formats including DivX. Take that majority of the world.

Installation went swimmingly for me in the UK, everything was boringly simple and all seems to work well. However Zune guru IceInPerson has mentioned people having problems with Smart DJ, so watch out.

Nothing much else to report… go get it already.

Oh almost forgot, they’ve also announced the new 64GB version of the HD, fantastic if you watch a lot of films and for making me feel slightly inferior with my mere 32GB.

Let me know what you think below, I’m off to laugh at Apple users for having to change the format of all their videos.

Final Fantasy XIII Released – Initial Impressions

Final Fantasy 13 Review

So the latest instalment of the Final Fantasy series is upon us, I’m sorry to say I’m not hardcore enough to have completed it yet (it does come on 3 discs!), but thought I’d share my initial impressions:

The game seems to remain fairly true to the previous titles, with lashings of gorgeous visuals, scantily clad female heroins, some extremely bad chat in the script and even the little white hand as the selector in the menus. If you’ve played any of the previous titles you’ll certainly feel right at home, not that it’s a necessity. The beginning of the game is nicely set up for people who are new to the series.

Iron Man 2 Trailer Released

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
Iron Man 2

So I now know what I’m doing on the 30th April (take that all you Americans who don’t get it until the 7th May!), this should be rather tasty! Just found out about this new Iron Man 2 trailer so thought I’d share it with you in case you’ve been missing out.

For those who haven’t seen the original… shame on you! I can’t speak for the female demographic (well I could but it wouldn’t be particularly well researched…), but if you’re male and have nerdy tendencies, you’ll love it. It’s the ultimate blokes film, now go rent it or something before I find out you’ve not seen it.

The new film (the second of of a planned trilogy), deals with a second ‘uber geek’ who creates the expected rival suit. In fact many suits from what I can see in the trailer. Then he annoys Stark by stopping him from winning a car race he’s in so they have a massive fight or three. Now I’m sure that’s not really going to be the story line but who cares! It’s all about the visual effects (which incidentally look rather tasty), story line’s a bonus in my opinion – can I hear you say Transformers 2?
