Microsoft Arc Keyboard Review

Microsoft Arc Keyboard

I’m one of those guys that loves a huge desk, the bigger the better I always say… Therefore when it came to buying a new keyboard my priority was to find something that was space efficient, but not in such a way as to be detrimental to usability. I ended up choosing Microsoft’s Arc Keyboard as it seemed to tick those boxes nicely. I’ve had it for a few weeks now, so I thought it was high time for a review.

Final Fantasy 13 Review

So the latest instalment of the Final Fantasy series is upon us, I’m sorry to say I’m not hardcore enough to have completed it yet (it does come on 3 discs!), but thought I’d share my initial impressions:

The game seems to remain fairly true to the previous titles, with lashings of gorgeous visuals, scantily clad female heroins, some extremely bad chat in the script and even the little white hand as the selector in the menus. If you’ve played any of the previous titles you’ll certainly feel right at home, not that it’s a necessity. The beginning of the game is nicely set up for people who are new to the series.

5 Great Games That Now Cost Less Than Lunch

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Sat in the confines of my hideously cramped lair (or intimate boudoir as I refer to it when I try to kiss girls), wallowing amongst a sea of macaroni cheese encrusted crockery, desperately trying to conserve body heat by positioning myself in front of my PC’s heat extractor fan, I realise one thing; the chances of me purchasing a games title released anytime in the last six months are akin to those of Mr. Berlusconi adopting the lifestyle of a monk. I therefore have the choice of attempting to resurrect my floundering social life and congeal into the corner of my local watering hole with a pint of tap water, or of dusting off a few retro titles and reliving some of my personal pinnacles of gaming experiences. Needless to say I deployed a good old fashioned sense of reason and spent the last week or so doing just that (the latter, of course).

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Review

Operation Flashpoint 2

New signing Rob starts off with a review of Operation Flashpoint : Dragon Rising. Please be nice to him, he’s only little!

- – -

Operation flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a somewhat unique game in that although other titles have claimed to push the boundaries of warfare realism, OF actually does. Forget glitzy Hollywood visuals and set pieces, lightning quick weapon changes and the somewhat ridiculous ability to “throw back” grenades, OF drops you head first into what US marines would call “the suck” and expects you to scramble over its steep learning curve like a road runner with a coyote up its arse.

Wirelessly Stream Music With The Squeezebox Duet

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Seemingly every household has now converted to wireless internet: what a lot of people don’t realise, is that in doing so, they’ve actually created their own home network. Networks can do an awful lot more than provide you with the internet, most people don’t have a central music source and resort to plugging an iPod into their Hi-Fi or even moving their laptops around. Seems like an awful lot of effort to me… Fear not, though, as help is at hand people: Ben will show you the way!

You’ve no idea how much I hate wires, so when searching for an elegant solution to my music dispensing needs, keeping them to a minimum was an absolute must. Enter [Stage Right]: the Logitech Squeezebox Duet, originally created by Slimdevices who were subsequently bought out by Logitech. The Squeezebox Duet unsurprisingly comes in two parts; a wireless remote and the Squeezebox itself. Both connect directly to your wireless router and then stream your music from a program you have to install on either a NAS device or computer to your Hi-Fi of choice. The true beauty of the system is that the Squeezeboxes are available separately and any number of them can be controlled from the one remote, allowing you to slowly expand your system – rather than having to fork out a mountain of cash on day one. You can even stream the music to the remote allowing it to be used as a mp3 player around the house!
